Why y

y is a blog space for insights and comments into the real-politics of process, the emergent ecologies and ‘practices of becoming’ that I mediate through my work. The blog provides a space to salvage and share some of the experiences, the debates, and in particular to draw attention to the contradictions and paradoxes encountered through the communities I work with. I will list these as the blog evolves over time but at the start I would identify two with separate cultural dynamics pulling in different directions:

1   derives from the environmental, the politics of climate change, the imperatives of global warming and pollution, the movement for sustainable agriculture etc. All these involve cultural spheres alluding to low energy, autonomous, ‘back to earth’ movements with an emphasis on localism.
2 derives from information technology, all the associations of the digital revolution, with accelerating globalisation and exchange, porous national borders,  virtual markets,  social media and the network society.
