In this first dialogue (archive from 1998) Tony Benn talks to me about the significance of recent past, the unclaimed space between journalism and history as the undefended past for the establishment. He describes how he uses the medium of the personal diary to address the space of the recent past and how the use of new technologies have changed the way he creates his diaries.
Tony Benn served in Labour Government of 1964–1970 as Postmaster General under Prime Minister Harold Wilson, later as Minister of Technology and Secretary of State for Energy.
